An Air Corps helicopter rescued a man from a ravine in Co Cork this evening.

An Air Corps helicopter rescued a man from a ravine in Co Cork this evening.

Following a request from Valencia Coast Guard, the Air Corps AW139 helicopter, which had been flying in the area as part of a joint Defence Forces exercise, attended the scene in Baltimore at 5.55pm.

The injured man, who is believed to have suffered a broken leg in the fall, was winched to the helicopter; flown to Cork airport, arriving at 6.35pm; and taken to Cork University Hospital by ambulance.
