Man (79) dies in Sligo car crash

A 79-year-old man has died after the car he was driving was involved in a crash in Co Sligo this morning.

A 79-year-old man has died after the car he was driving was involved in a crash in Co Sligo this morning.

The man’s car left the road and struck a ditch between Dromahair and Sligo town on the R287 at around 8.45am.

The driver was taken by ambulance to Sligo General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A female passenger, also in her 70s, was treated in hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

The scene was examined by forensic collision investigators.
