Man (63) killed in Co Meath crash

A 63-year-old man died this morning when he was hit by a truck in Co Meath.

A 63-year-old man died this morning when he was hit by a truck in Co Meath.

The incident happened at 7.30am in Millbrook, Oldcastle, according to Gardai.

A spokesman said that a bicycle was found at the scene but it is not known if the man had been cycling it before the crash.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.

Gardai in Kells Garda Station have asked witnesses to the crash to contact them on 046 9280820.

AA Roadwatch said the Castlepollard Road was closed between Milbrook Cross and Oldcastle until  and diversions were in place.

Four people have died on the State's roads so far this year. Last year 335 people died in road crashes compared to 365 in 2006.
