An Post expects the backlog of Christmas post which has built up at its central sorting office in Clondalkin, Dublin, to be cleared by today.
The first postal deliveries since December 30th took place yesterday with 1.7 million items delivered in Dublin, at least 200,000 more than on a normal day.
