The State's 99th Lotto millionaire collected his cheque for £1.6 million from National Lottery headquarters yesterday. A married man in his 30s from Co Wicklow, he was the sole winner of last Saturday night's Lotto draw. The man, who did not wish to be named, said that all day Saturday he had "a strange feeling" that he was going to win after his young son had picked the numbers.
It is the sixth time that a prize of more than £1 million has gone to Wicklow.
