A senior manager with Campbell Catering has told the Employment Appeals Tribunal in Galway he was devastated when he was told he was to be made redundant a year after joining the company and agreeing to a company request to sell his Dublin house and move to Cork.

Mr McGuigan said his position as regional manager in Munster was not abolished after August 30th, 1994, but filled by another manager.

Campbell Catering's chief executive, Mr Gerry Fagan, told the tribunal that substantial restructuring was necessary after poor returns. The other manager was not doing the same job as Mr McGuigan as he himself had taken over some of Mr McGuigan's duties.
