Logica says it has begun testing multimedia messaging services for Orange.
The service will be available on Orange's GPRS network next year.
Multimedia messaging, or MMS, promises text messages enhanced with audio, pictures, animation and real-time video streaming.
Orange will use the tests to develop a range of MMS services and to estimate its profitability.
Logica Mobile Networks CEO Mr Gerry McKenna said: "The trial is very much a co-operative effort between Logica and Orange UK. We have worked with Orange to help create a position of strength in messaging".
