Liverpool have signed Poland goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek from Feyenoord, according to the Dutch club.

The Rotterdam side announced on their official website, www.feyenoord.nl that they will receive £4.85 million sterling for the 28-year-old, who nearly joined Arsenal during the summer.

Liverpool were keen to wrap up the transfer before tomorrow's Champions League registration deadline after Sander Westerveld's late blunder on Monday gifted Bolton victory at the Reebok Stadium.

Dudek, in Warsaw preparing for Poland's World Cup qualifier with Norway, has reportedly waived his rights to a £300,000 payoff in order to seal the move.

The player's agent, Jan de Zeeuw, told the Daily Mail: "Jerzy has made a big sacrifice of around £300,000 to make sure it goes through. That shows his desire to become a Liverpool player".
