A Limerick man who travelled to Las Vegas with a group of friends from Limerick city to celebrate his 40th birthday has been killed in a car crash in the United States.

The crash happened in the vicinity of the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Gardaí have confirmed that the crash happened on Tuesday night Arizona time, which is eight hours behind Ireland.

The man has been named locally in Murroe, Co Limerick, as Francis Kenny.

He is from the Newport Road area of Limerick.

A Limerick city man, who is in his mid-50s, remains in hospital following the crash.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Four men from Limerick travelled to Las Vegas.

“There were three in the car at the time of the accident.

“One is still in hospital and one has been released.”
