Limerick man charged with killing of father

A 20-year-old Limerick man was yesterday charged with the manslaughter of his father.

A 20-year-old Limerick man was yesterday charged with the manslaughter of his father.

Michael Molloy, of Garryglass Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, appeared before Limerick District Court charged with the unlawful killing of 39-year-old Michael Molloy snr in January last year.

He was assaulted outside his Garryglass Avenue home on the night of January 23rd and died the following day at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.

The court heard that Mr Molloy made no reply when Garda Mark Deasy from Roxboro formally charged him with his father’s manslaughter.

Free legal aid was granted to Mr Molloy, and his solicitor, John Devane, said his client would not be making a bail application.

Judge Aeneas McCarthy remanded Mr Molloy in custody to appear before Limerick District Court again next Thursday.
