A post mortem examination into the death of a man whose body was discovered yesterday in a skip on the outskirts of Limerick revealed he was crushed to death accidentally.

State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy found that the man was crushed to death after the bin he was sleeping in was loaded onto a refuse collection truck.

Gardaí believe the man was a homeless man in his mid-30s who arrived in the city in recent days from the Cork area.

The man's body was found by workers sorting through rubbish at the Mr Binman depot in Luddemore, Grange, Co Limerick, some 12km outside the city.

Gardaí said the man's identity would not be released until his relatives had been notified.
