High CourtA dispute concerning the ownership of a Dublin site where supermarket chain Lidl plans to build a new outlet has come before the High Court.

Lidl Ireland secured a temporary injunction yesterday preventing O’Gara Estates Ltd, whose principal is Noel O’Gara, from trespassing on the site at Rathfarnham Road, Dublin.

Mr Justice John Cooke heard O’Gara Estates claims it has acquired the freehold of the property and has threatened to take possession of and change the locks on the site.

Lidl says it owns the site, for which it paid €3.45 million last year, and denies Mr O’Gara’s company has any right to take possession of it. Lidl plans to build a 2,260sq m shop and a car park at the site, which formerly housed the Sunday World’s offices.
