London - A Leeds United footballer has been charged with assault and affray following an incident outside a pub, it emerged yesterday. Reserve team midfielder Gareth Evans (20), of Rothwell, near Leeds, will appear before magistrates in Leeds tomorrow.

A second man will appear in court charged with the same offences. The pair are accused of assaulting a 30year-old man outside the White Swan Inn, Rothwell, on Friday.
