Sweden striker Henrik Larsson will not come out of retirement to play in next year's European Championship despite a personal request from UEFA president Lennart Johansson, Swedish media reported on Thursday.
"It's nice to receive a personal letter from Europe's most powerful football leader," Larsson told the Daily Expressen."But it's not going to change anything. I made my decision once and for all.
Larsson announced his international retirement after last year's World Cup but made a one-off appearance in Sweden's 2-1 qualifying win over Hungary in April. Coaches Tommy Soderberg and Lars Lagerback hinted that Larsson could return to the international fold, but the Celtic forward has not played for his country again since.
Sweden automatically qualified for Euro 2004 after topping Group Four ahead of Latvia.
