London - Britain's Labour government yesterday dropped controversial plans to outlaw incitement to religious hatred in order to rush-through a package of emergency anti-terror legislation.

After peers in the upper house of parliament voted down the ban on incitement for a second time in two weeks, Home Secretary Mr David Blunkett agreed to drop it from his proposals.
