King Hassan of Morocco has congratulated the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, on the Northern Ireland peace deal.
Morocco's official news agency said the king sent Mr Blair a message in which he said the deal "will put an end to the sad events which this region has known for decades." It added that the deal was achieved thanks in large part to Mr Blair's "spirit, clearsightedness and perspicacity".
King Hassan said he hoped for "a return of serenity, friendship and affection between the inhabitants of this region so they can enjoy tranquility and peace".
