Manchester United supremo Peter Kenyon believes the champions do not need to break the British record transfer fee again - at least in the short term.

Chief executive Kenyon has overseen the £47.1million sterling acquisitions of Juan Sebastian Veron and Ruud van Nistelrooy this summer, and he does not expect to have to force open the Old Trafford coffers again to appease Sir Alex Ferguson's desires for more superstars.

He said: "We are running out of coppers. We are looking to add quality and not quantity. There may be a couple of minor tweaks but I feel that Ruud and Juan are the main ones that will add richly to our squad.

"We have been working on this all over the summer period, and it was from a very short shortlist.
