Portsmouth have signed Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kanu on a one-year contract, the Premier League club said on their Web site last night.
The 31-year-old left West Bromwich Albion when they were relegated to the second division at the end of last season.
Kanu, who has scored six goals in 39 appearances for his country, is in line to make his debut for Portsmouth in their first game of the season at home to Blackburn Rovers tomorrow.
The Nigerian previously had spells with Arsenal, Inter Milan and Ajax Amsterdam.
