A 57 year old retired Co Wexford priest accused of sexually assaulting young males during the 1970s and 1980s is seeking a judicial review of his case in the High Court.

The priest was sent forward for trial at Wexford Circuit Court this week but when the case arose yesterday, Mr Michael Counihan BL, for the State, informed Judge Sean O'Leary that the accused had applied for a judicial review.proceedings pending its determination on the application. Judge O'Leary adjourned the case to the next sessions.

The priest is facing 21 separate charges of indecent assault and alleged acts of gross indecency against four young males.
