A judge yesterday called on Romanian diplomats to "start taking responsibility for their citizens". Judge Patrick Brady made the comment at Kilmain ham District Court during the case of Ms Daniella Staoin (21), from Sundale Avenue, Tallaght, who was charged with begging offences in Tallaght and Ballyfermot.
Sgt Paschal Walshe opposed bail, saying that the accused woman had failed to appear in court on a number of occasions. Mr Terry Hanahoe, defence solicitor, said that an appropriate sum of cash bail should ensure that his client returned to the court.
At a second calling of the case, Mr Hanahoe offered the court £600 cash from his client for her bail.
The judge remanded Ms Staoin to a hearing on July 27th. If she did not turn up, she would be arrested, he said.
