The Garda Commissioner's application to lift a High Court order which stops him bringing a garda stationed in Cyprus back to the State after a remarks to the Minister for Defence, Mr Barrett, at a drinks reception, was further adjourned for a week yesterday.
Garda Michael Fitzpatrick was granted an injunction restraining the Garda Commissioner from repatriating him from Cyprus to his station at Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, in a unprecedented Good Friday sitting of the High Court. The application was made ex-parte (in the absence of the other side).
