London - Convicted Lockerbie bomber, Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, has gone on hunger strike, a lawyer who acts for the Libyan secret agent said yesterday.

Megrahi was found guilty of mass murder on January 31st for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, which killed 270 people.

Yesterday he announced his intention to appeal against the sentence of life imprisonment.
