A cruise liner with 650 Israeli passengers on board was diverted from Turkey to Cyprus today because of security worries.

The Mirage, sailing from Israel to the Turkish port city of Alanya, changed course overnight and is now heading for the Cypriot port of Larnaca.

"It appeared there were some security issues in the Turkish ports," the Cyprus Ports Authority said.

Three Israeli liners, carrying more than 2,000 people, were diverted to Cyprus from Turkey on Friday because of a security threat.
