Israeli troops have arrested a Palestinian youth in northern Jerusalem who was thought to be on his way to carry out a suicide bombing, Israel army radio said.
The youth was stopped by border police at the Aram checkpoint at the northern entry to the city and taken for questioning by the Shin Beit, Israel's internal security service, the radio said.
Three other Palestinians wanted for questioning by the security services were arrested in the West Bank town of Nablus, after the army uncovered three explosive devices ready for use, the army said in a statement.
Palestinian security officials also said that Israeli troops arrested four members of the Palestinian national security in Salfit, halfway between Nablus and Ramallah.
It was later announced that Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres is to meet newly-appointed Palestinian interior minister General Abdel Razaq al-Yahiya and finance minister Salam Fayad with the next 24 hours.
The meeting, the first between Peres and the new ministers appointed a month ago as part of the shake-up of the Palestinian administration, will be held in Israel, possibly Jerusalem.
