An Irishman has been before a judge in Spain in relation to an attack on another Irishman who was beaten while on holiday in Torremlinos.

The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that a magistrate is investigating allegations made by an Irish holiday-maker that he was attacked by two Dubliners he met in a bar.

Mr Alan Tansey (27) claims in today's Evening Heraldnewspaper that he met three men and three women while watching a football match on television, in a bar in Torremolinos.

He says two men from the group accompanied him to his appartment where threy attacked him and tied him up, stealing cash, car keys and his watch.

The Spanish police are searching for the second man.

Details of the man who was before the court in connection with the attack have not been made available and it is not clear whether the he has been charged.
