The annual inflation rate in Ireland rose from 2.1 to 2.2 per cent in April, according to the latest consumer price data released today.
The now-familiar pattern of higher prices in the services and public sectors was evident in the April consumer price index.
The most significant monthly price changes were in housing, electricity and gas (+2 per cent), transport (+1.2 per cent) and restaurants (+0.8 per cent).
The most notable changes in the year were increases in housing and energy (+10.6 per cent), education (+6.3 per cent), health (+5.9 per cent).
The annual rate of inflation for services is now running at 3.7 per cent compared to a rate of 0.7 per cent in respect of goods.
