Democratic Unionist MP Ms Iris Robinson today demanded an investigation into how two of the three Irishmen men detained in Columbia were able to travel on false British passports.
The anti-Agreement Strangford MP said it was vital to establish whether the men fraudulently obtained the documents through the passport agency.
"This whole episode in Colombia shows that passports can be forged . . . and there must be an investigation into how this can happen," she said.
Authorities in Colombia have said investigators will decide within five days whether to prosecute the detained men, Niall Connolly, James Monaghan and Martin McCauley.
Ms Robinson said the arrest of the three had confirmed to the unionist community the peace process was a fraud.
"The recent elections showed that the predominantly unionist community have no faith in what's going on in Northern Ireland, particularly in the peace process," she said.
