One dead and seven injured in Co Carlow crash

Collision involving two vehicles occurred on old Bagenalstown to Carlow road at about 5pm

A man has died and seven people have been taken to hospital following a crash in Co Carlow.

The two car collision occurred at Ballybannon on the old Bagenalstown to Carlow road at about 5pm.

A Garda spokesman said a man had died in the crash and that seven others had been injured and taken to hospital.

Three of those who sustained injuries were said to be in a serious condition.

AA Roadwatch said the R448 was closed at Milford due to the crash.

Gardaí are at the scene.
