Gardaí rule out foul play after death of man in Limerick

Gardaí have ruled out foul play in the death of a 31-year-old man who was found dead in a house in Limerick city overnight.

The man, who had an address in Co Clare, was socialising with friends at a house on Hyde Raod, when he became ill shortly after 8pm.

Paramedics were called and brought him to University Hospital Limerick but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

State Pathologist Marie Cassidy carried out a postmortem on the body on Monday afternoon.

It concluded that the man did not die violently or as a result of foul play. The cause of death has still to be established.

Tissue samples have been sent for further analysis and toxicology tests will also to be carried out.

Gardaí­ say the results of the postmortem mean there is no criminal investigation underway. The house had earlier been sealed off.

Gardaí­ are preparing a file for the coroner.
