The Comptroller and Auditor General has recommended that the Defence Forces introduce a better inventory system to reduce the amount of obsolete stocks they hold. The Comptroller's report found the Air Corps and Naval Service, in particular, held large stocks of obsolete equipment including £100,000 worth of Land-Rover parts which have been obsolete for more than a decade. The Army is said to hold £10 million worth of uniforms and cloth, much of which is surplus.
