The Latin American Institute of Ireland has been inaugurated on the campus of Griffith College on Dublin's South Circular Road.
The new institute aims to promote Latin American studies in Ireland; to organise conferences, workshops and training programmes on issues of common Irish Latin American interest; to establish a permanent collection of written and audiovisual material on Latin America; and to promote Ireland as an education centre for Latin American people.
