European Monetary Union could damage job creation, job distribution and general social protection, the Irish National, Organisation of the Unemployed has warned.
The INOU's general secretary, Mr Mike Allen, said that while the organisation was not opposed to monetary union in principle, the way the EU was currently moving towards it was detrimental to the interests of job creation.
