Industrial production for the three months from February to April has climbed 8

Industrial production for the three months from February to April has climbed 8.8 per cent on the preceding three month period, figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) this morning show.

The "Modern" sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual increase in production for April 2003 of 10.4 per cent.

An increase of 3.7 per cent was recorded in the "Traditional" sectors.

Industrial turnover for manufacturing industries climbed 0.6 per cent from February to April when compared with the preceding three month period.

Turnover in April 2003 was 1.3 per cent higher than in April 2002, according to the CSO.
