Guide omits boxer's links with Ennis
Ennis Town Council came under fire yesterday after it emerged that a new council historical guide to Ennis makes no mention of Muhammad Ali's links to the area.

Cllr Brian Meaney (Green Party) said that the omission of Ali’s links along any of the mapped four walking routes in the guide “is sad and lamentable”.

Man (25) killed in work incident

A 25-year-old man was killed in a work accident in Co Limerick yesterday.

The agricultural worker was moving timber in a forest in Kilmeedy near the west Limerick town of Newcastlewest when the incident occurred at 11.30am.

It is understood the man became trapped underneath a heavy vehicle that was being used to move the timber.

The name of the victim is not due to be released until today as gardaí were last night trying to contact some of his family who live abroad.

Convicted rapist has case deferred

A convicted rapist accused of failing to notify gardaí of his whereabouts, as required by the Sex Offenders Act, had his case adjourned at Dundalk District Court yesterday.

Gerard Creighton (41) is accused of failing to notify gardaí of his address between August 28th and 30th this year.
