Furniture giant Ikea has issued a product recall on a child's folding tent amid concern it may pose an injury risk to children.

The BUSA child’s tent, which has been on sale since June, has a steel wire frame that can break during use, the company said.

This can cause sharp wire ends to protrude through the tent fabric, creating a risk of a laceration or puncture injury to a child playing with the tent.

Ikea said it was aware of three reports where the wire frame had broken and protruded through the tent fabric.

One of the incidents resulted in a minor injury, Ikea said.

The Swedish company apologised to customers and asked those seeking further information to contact Ikea customer relations on 1890 876 707.
