The Irish Farmers Association is to continue with its series of protests next weekend when five factories will be targeted for a 48 hour period.

Yesterday it named the plants as AIBP Cahir; AIBP Nenagh; Dawn Meats, Grannagh in Waterford; Meadow Meats in Rathdowney, Co Laois and Kepak, Athleague, Co Roscommon.

This, the fourth weekend of the dispute, will see the action extend to 48 hours at AIBP and Dawn meat plants which were left untouched last weekend.

Since the beginning of the dispute, the action has led to the closure of the plants for the duration of the protest.

He said factories had cut prices despite the positive news on the lifting of the Russian six county ban and the 8.5p per lb increase in export refunds to Egypt.
