Unsettled weather is predicted for much of the weekend with heavy showers forecast for Sunday.

It’s ideal weather for armchair tennis fans with the finals of the Wimbledon tournament taking place. Venus Williams will face Lindsay Davenport in the women’s final on Saturday while Roger Federer takes on Thomas Johansson in the men’s final on Sunday.

Closer to home, Kilkenny take on Wexford at Croke Park on Sunday in the Leinster Hurling Final. Throw-in is at 3.30pm. Racing is at Leopardstown and Limerick on Saturday evening.

Routes worth avoiding this weekend include the N7 between Bushfield and Ballywilliam where roadworks are causing delays in both directions. Roadworks are also causing delays on the main street in Enfield and motorists are advised to use the bypass.

The N54 Clones to Cavan road will be closed from 8am to 6pm every day until July 8th and Carrick O'Brien Rd at Golden Island in Athlone is closed until further notice. Local diversions are in place.
