Rising house prices were creating a new "middle-class poor" who could not afford to live in the areas where they grew up. Many had to commute up to five hours a day, IMPACT health services official Ms Christine Cully said. Delegates passed a motion calling for the introduction of a nine-day fortnight, which would reduce travel time.
