Hoax bomb delays Spanish flight

An Aer Lingus flight from Malaga to Dublin is due to arrive at around 5.30 this evening having been delayed by a bomb threat.

An Aer Lingus flight from Malaga to Dublin is due to arrive at around 5.30 this evening having been delayed by a bomb threat.

All 300 passengers and 10 crew were aboard flight EI585 which was preparing for take-off when the pilot was alerted.

An Aer Lingus spokeswoman said local police received a phone call saying there was a bomb aboard the plane.

"Passengers were deplaned and the aircraft taken to a safe part of the ariport were it was searched and the bomb threat was then stood down," the spokeswoman said.

The Airbus A-330 was due to leave the Costa del Sol at noon (1pm local time). It took off at round 2.30pm Irish time after the all-clear had been given.
