Lima - Hijackers seized a Peruvian passenger plane yesterday and fled with an estimated $9.25 million after forcing the pilot to land on a stretch of roadway. The plane was headed to the port city of Chimbote from Lima with eight passengers and a large amount of money belonging to a regional transportation company when the incident occurred.

Halfway into the flight, four men armed with knives and pistols stabbed the pilot in the back and forced him to land on a highway before fleeing in two vehicles that had been waiting for them.
