A woman who sued golfer Christy O'Connor Junior and the Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) over a fatal accident has settled her High Court action for €225,000.

Ms Anne Hynes, widow of Michael Hynes (50), a supermarket owner of Mullagh Road, Milltown Malbay, Co Clare, took civil proceedings against Mr O'Connor Jr and the MIBI.

The crash killed three, including her husband and the golfer's son, Darren.

Darren (18) was driving his father's white BMW when it collided with a jeep driven by Mr Hynes, and coming in the opposite direction, on the main Gort-Kilcolgan road, Co Galway, on September 7th, 1998.
