Train services at Heuston Station have resumed after the temporary suspension of all services following a security alert earlier this evening.

Three to four thousand people were evacuated from the station at 5.30 p.m after gardaí received a call that a bomb was due to go off in the building.

The call was passed on from the RUC in Newry at 5.15 p.m. Gardaí say a suspect device found at the station turned out to be a hoax.
