WASHINGTON - US President Mr Bill Clinton and his Russian counterpart, Mr Boris Yeltsin, will hold a summit meeting on March 20th-21st in Helsinki, the US Vice President, Mr Al Gore, said yesterday.
Mr Gore said the US had offered to open discussions with Russia on a new START III arms reduction treaty.
The Russian Prime Minister, Mr Viktor Chernomyrdin, set the date with Mr Gore during his visit here after the Finnish government offered its capital as the venue for talks, because of Russian fears about the effect a long journey might have on Mr Yeltsin's health.
