How much sleep do you need? If I don't have six hours I feel tired the next day, and quite often I don't get six hours. One day a week I try to lie in until 11 a.m.
or noon.
Do you take much exercise? Very little, unfortunately. I find myself standing a lot, giving presentations and so on, but I don't take exercise for the sake of it. It's on my mind to do something about it. I have put on a bit of weight by drinking coffee and eating pastries during long meetings, which is probably necessary because I was underweight.
Are you an early morning person? Usually I'm up at 7 a.m. and I feed the kids and drop them to school in the morning. I try to get to the office for 8.30 a.m. and a few mornings I'm in at 7.45 a.m. You can get so much done before 9 a.m. - after that you're working from call to call.
Are you careful about what you eat? Not in the slightest. I eat a lot of fries and fast food, which is a bit of a problem. Aislinn is fantastic and every day there's a healthy evening meal on the table but whether I'm there to eat it is another thing. It might be 10 p.m. If you want to get something done you often have to do it after 6.30 p.m. This industry is very fast moving and there are new projects daily and you need to react quite quickly. Most of the companies we deal with want to be first on the Internet, which means working long hours to get the job done quickly rather than spreading projects over an extended period.
Do you drink or smoke too much? Both. I certainly smoke too much. I don't get the time to drink as often as I'd like to. You get home and you're too tired. I do find that a couple of drinks is quite a good way to relax, although in the morning I suffer so I tend to avoid it if I have to be up early.
Are there any foods you hate? Hot, spicy foods and parsnips. Have you ever been ill hospital? When I was a child for tonsillitis and as an adult to have eight teeth extracted. I had eight extra teeth in my mouth and I didn't want to face up to it but eventually it came back to haunt me.
Does your work make you stressed? If you have a lot on your mind and it is moving quickly and you have a couple of late nights, it can build up. The fact that everything moves so quickly, is great when everything goes well but when it doesn't, you are worried all the time that something could go wrong technically with the services.
