Community cycles go nationwide
The first of a series of community cycles goes ahead on Sunday in Sligo.
Participants of all ages can choose to join a 10km, 60km or 160km cycle. Similar cycles, organised by the local sports partnerships, will take place in Clare (June 20th), Meath (July 19th), Waterford (August 30th) and Cork (September 13th). See www.anpost.ie/cycling.
Life in Ireland with a disability
Actor and journalist Donal Toolan will speak about life for a person with a disability in Ireland today and how family dynamics influence a person’s independence at a seminar this weekend. Organised by Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland, the event from May 8th to 10th in the Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe, Co Galway will also hear from international experts on spina bifida. Workshop on Reiki healing
A two-part introductory workshop in Reiki goes ahead on May 11th and May 18th in the Clonsilla Clinic, 26 Clonsilla Road, Blanchardstown. Run by Reiki practitioner Patricia Sheehan, the workshop will introduce participants to how Reiki is used to re-energise the mind, body and emotions. The cost is €210. Talk on sibling relationships
The Power of Companionship is the theme of a public lecture on the brother/sister relationship in the Milltown Institute, Sandford Road, Ranelagh, Dublin 6. American Jungian analyst Lara Newton will look at the patterns in dark and troublesome brother/sister relationships and the process of transformation from bonding and wounding to healing and redemption. Making the most of fundraising
Experian, a global information services company, is holding a seminar for the not-for-profit sector which it says will “explore how charities get the most out of their data and use existing information to overcome fundraising challenges”.
