The HSE yesterday urged people in at-risk groups to get vaccinated. They include pregnant women, people aged 65 and over, people with long-term illnesses and healthcare workers.
Minister for Health James Reilly has approved legislation to allow pharmacists to administer winter flu vaccinations to Irish patients.
The vaccine is available free of charge from GPs and pharmacists to all those in the at-risk groups. Medical card holders will not be charged for getting the vaccine.
