The Tanaiste and Minister for Health has moved to reassure doctors over the new medical card scheme.
Speaking at the annual conference of the Irish College of GPs in Galway, Ms Harney said she did not believe the 200,000 new doctor-only medical cards will be over-used by patients or put undue pressure on GPs.
She told delegates she wanted to see the dispute over the cards resolved.
