The Tanaiste, Ms Harney, has announced the composition of the Macroom task force she set up following the recent closure of the General Semiconductor plant in the town.
The task force's chairman is Mr Maurice Moloney, the Cork county manager. Its members are: Mr Paddy Gallagher, IDA; Mr Pat O'Callaghan, FAS; Mr Brian Quinlan, Enterprise Ireland; Mr Jim Brennan, CEO South Cork County Enterprise Board; Mr Joe O'Flynn, SIPTU regional director; Mr Donagh Corcoran, IBEC; Ms Veronica Perdisatt, general manager, EMC Ireland; Mr Colman Casey, managing director, Schering Plough; Mr Denis Lucey, chief executive, Dairy Gold; Ms Eileen Sharpe, ICT division, IDA; Mr Steve Cowman, General Semiconductor Ireland.
There is also an unnamed worker representative.
The task force's terms of reference include securing alternative job-creating enterprise and assessing the infrastructure needs of the Macroom area.
