Johannesburg - The assassins of the popular and charismatic Communist Party and ANC leader, Chris Hani, were yesterday refused amnesty by South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, reports Patrick Laurence.

Hani was shot dead in 1993 by Janusz Walus, a Polish immigrant with a fanatical hatred of communism. He was found to be acting in concert with Clive Derby-Lewis, a prominent member of the right-wing Conservative Party.
