Hammers all out of luck

Charlton 4 West Ham 2

Even two lucky goals could not hoist West Ham off the bottom of the Premiership table against Charlton at The Valley tonight, as they conceded four and slumped to their 13th defeat in 24 games.

In a bruising London derby, Glenn Roeder's men netted through Edouard Cisse, whose shot appeared hit Richard Rufus, and a fluke deflection off Trevor Sinclair.

Despite their bad fortune, Alan Curbishley's side wrapped up a fully-deserved win by netting four times, including a magnificent 25-yard free-kick from Claus Jensen.

West Ham strung a decent move together in the 76th minute, with Sinclair and substitute Nigel Winterburn setting up Steve Lomas to test Kiely from 20 yards.

Sinclair sent a bicycle kick two yards wide as the Hammers finally mounted a period of pressure.

The England midfielder also poked a yard wide with four minutes left.

But Charlton scored their fourth in the last minute when Kishishev netted his first goal for the Addicks from close range after James saved from Johansson.
